A fairly new business is hard to start these days, and this one is the second attempt at an online business that may or may not prosper, but at least this time, I'm having fun doing it. My last venture was a leather biker accessories business that never even got off the ground. Unfortunately, the field of leather goods is saturated and there's many companies that are actually manufacturing their own leather gear and profiting very well considering the overhead costs, the 300% mark ups on their items and or selling their products in bulk to other warehouse distributors who jack the price. A small drop shipping business doesn't have a chance.
For the last two and a half months, my wife and I have cleared out the garage, put tile on the floor, purchased and rebuilt and quilting frame that is now capable of a 144" quilt span and had to buy a second sewing machine after blowing up the secondhand one we purchased with the frame. I really like the Brother PQ1500S sewing machine, but some day in the future i would really like to afford one of those 18" long arm jobs and a deeper quilting frame. The differences are 9" quilting area vs. 18" area and $699.00 for the Brother vs. $4500.00 for the professional version.
In the mean time, my wife, Zona and I are designing, building and quilting custom homemade quilts to order. We've received several inquires and a few orders for some pretty interesting requests including a California King Biker's Friendship Quilt and a Queen Plaid Quilt. Many of our designs are simple, because that's what people ask for, but we do quite a few large 44" X 35" center pieces built into quilts and wall hangings as well as matching curtains if requested. The Queen size White Tiger Quilt along with the wall hanging quilt was a request that went bad and a result we now have to take orders with monies up front ( such as the old saying, "one bad apple....")
It's very unfortunate to the rest of the world that people have to be that way, but life goes on and we still have our quilt, which is now presently for sale on our site. We also make pillow quilts, or 'quillows' as the quilting community calls them. This is a quilt, usually for a toddler, but not necessarily, that folds and tucks into a pillow. They're easy, compact and kids love them. They're great for camping or for family night around the TV.
Our Quilting services are made up of stitch designs we've found on the internet, commonly known as poly grams or polygraphs. We try to stay pretty simple with these designs because we aren't what are known as professionals by any means and by keeping it simple, it doesn't take as long to quilt a spread delivered to us. Several people bring their own batting, but we do offer the 50% poly/50% cotton blend batting at an additional cost.
Our quilt size range from infant quilts to custom California Kings with a large 28" drop and pillow tuck. These quilts measure a full 128" wide and 144" long. It literally takes both my wife and I just to put it on the frame for quilting and it takes 3 days to quilt stitch it. Unfortunately, we were requested not to photograph the quilt as the customer did not want any duplication made, so you will have to take our word on it, "it was enormous and very expensive material"
Please feel free to visit our site, gather your information, place an order or just ask questions. We are glad to help when ever possible and will be looking forward to doing business for you. Quilts By Lady Zoe
